About this cocktail
In a tip of the hat to the Negroni, we’re honouring the number three. We’ve taken three classic cocktails that use three-ingredients that are mixed in three equal parts base spirit, bitters, and vermouth, and partnered up with three local artisan producers for some good ol’ Aussie inspiration.
While the Negroni is undoubtedly the most famous of them all, the Old Pal and the Boulevardier offer intriguing alternatives for the palate that prefers a dryer (Old Pal) or sweeter (Boulevardier) version of the punchy Negroni.
A classic cocktail invented in Florence, Italy, circa 1920, the now iconic three-ingredient apéritif was the inspiration of Count Camillo Negroni who asked his bartender to replace the soda in an Americano with something stronger.
Meaning to open, an apéritif is said to stimulate the digestion. The practice of drinking an apéritif prior to a meal has been a popular practice in Europe for centuries.
Our Negroni is made with uniquely Australian ingredients, MeMo, Maidenii and VEVE all produced in Melbourne and preferred by some of Australia’s best bartenders.
