About this cocktail
It’s the cocktail that spawned an entire category of drinks; the first cocktail to be mentioned in a 007 novel; and the cocktail that inspired the Negroni. The Americano was first served in 1860 in Milan, back in the day when a cocktail was a revolution and made with just three ingredients.
Originally named “Milano-Torino” because of its birth-place and sweet vermouth base (sweet vermouth is also known as ‘Vermouth di Torino’ or Italian vermouth), it later became known as the Americano because of its popularity with American tourists during prohibition.
Partaking in the cheerful tradition known as ‘Aperitivo’ is something the Italians have done for centuries. A light, alcoholic beverage stimulates the appetite and tantalises the tastebuds and is perfect for sipping through a summer sunset.
Our Americano is made with uniquely Australian ingredients produced in Melbourne.
